Last week, two of our Emeth Champions, Shannon Chase and Julia Gray, traveled to Texas with coach Nikki Arnold for TOPS testing. TOPS stands for Talent Opportunity Program. This is a nationally governed program that identifies talent in young athletes and increases their potential to reach high-level gymnastics. 1,800 girls tested at the state level for TOPS. Only 280 of these girls moved on to National Testing.

The girls participated in two days of testing where the USA Gymnastics National Team coaching staff evaluated their conditioning and skills. The director of the National Test this year was Valeri Liukin, Nastia Liukin’s dad and coach. Liukin is also the coach of National Team members Rebecca Bross and Katelyn Ohashi.
