Seven Emeth Athletes returned home from the state gymnastics meets last weekend with state champion titles!
Comet Optional A team member Taylor Fenselon is the state champion on floor. Eleven-year-old Taylor reports, “It was really exciting to win on floor. It was such a great feeling.”
Thirteen-year-old Emma Drake earned her title as the state champion on vault. “It was amazing and so exciting!” says Emma, who is a member of the Comet Silver team.
Also a member of the Comet Silver team is twelve-year-old state beam champion, Hailey Richard. “Beam is one of my favorite events,” says Hailey. “I really enjoy the routines.”
Hailey’s good friend and fellow Comet Silver teammate Anna Hammerle is the state champion in vault, floor, and all around. Anna, who will be nine on Monday, is happy that all of her hard work has paid off. “I practice a lot here and at home,” says Anna. “I was a little excited when I won all around.”
The boys’ Saturn team brought home three state champions this week. Seven-year-old Garrett Alexander is the Level 4 state vault champion. “It was fun,” says Garrett. “I hung my medal up in my room.”
Nine-year-old Josh Dingman earned the title of state champion on vault for Level 6. “I was surprised and happy when they called my name,” remembers Josh. “I’ve been working hard at the gym and at home doing what Judah told me to do, and it paid off.”
The state meet was the last meet of seventeen-year-old Justin DeCavitch’s gymnastics career. “Being named state vault champ was a really fulfilling way to end this for me,” says Justin. Justin plans on coaching at Emeth until he begins classes to become a physical therapist.
Congratulations to all seven of Emeth’s state champions, and to all the athletes who represented Emeth at the state meet!
