Men’s Future Stars Program Overview

National Development Team – Future Stars Program

The Future Stars Program is an athlete development and education program. The Future Stars Program consists of five age groups 8-9 year olds, 10 year olds, 11 year olds, 12 year olds and 13 year olds, who perform selected skills and compulsory routines on the six men’s events plus strength and flexibility evaluations. The 8-9 year old division participates up to the Regional level while the 10, 11, 12 and 13 year old divisions can qualify to the National level.

The Junior National Development Team is determined through the use of a “Future Stars” National Championships/Evaluation held in the fall of each year. The competition targets the 10, 11, 12 and 13-year old age groups of athletes and involves athletes being judged/evaluated on the six events using a basic skills compulsory routine composed of approximately ten basic skills elements placed together in routine form. In addition, there are events that involve evaluation on flexibility, strength and body positions. The evaluations are done by a coach/Junior National Coaching Staff member and a NGJA judge working together to produce a score based on technique and execution.

The Future Stars Championships are divided into four age groups. The four age groups, the number of athletes who will be named to the National Development Team from the Future Stars National Championships and the number of athletes who will be invited to a special Development Team camp are:

Age Division # To Team # To Camp
10 year old 18 9
11 year old 18 9
12 year old 14 7
13 year old 6 3
